My name is Dr Axel Würz. I hope you will find this website useful to find out how I can help you to achieve your goals and how you can learn to overcome and cope with emotional, psychological or physical difficulties that you may be facing at present.

I called the website 'kontrol sende', which roughly translates from Turkish as 'you are in control'. Many problems that we have to face during our lives such as stress, anxieties, insomnia, pain, phobias, depression, traumatic experiences, illnesses and so on can make us feel as if we have "lost control" over our lives, as if there is nothing we can do to cope with these challenges.

In my experience the single most important step to take towards tackling these kind of problems successfully is to learn that you can put yourself back in control. My biggest goal is  to help you to reassert control over your life by helping you to gain a deeper understanding of the mechansims that contribute to the difficulties you are experiencing and to show you effective techniques that you can use to make a positive change.  Of course, noone can control every aspect of his or her life, as many life events are outside of human control. However, you can learn to take control of how these events affect so that you can move on from them in a helpful way rather than to feel stuck.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a sophisticated psychological treatment approach with a  well researched theoretical basis. More importantly, there is an ever increasing amount of evidence that CBT is very effective in helping people facing a wide variety of emotional, psychological or physical challenges.

I also use and teach techniques that come out of the tradition of hypnosis. Hypnosis has been shown to have the potential to enhance treatment within a cognitive behavioral framework and is especially useful to influence physical symptoms positively.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a further effective therapeutic approach, particularly aimed at overcoming the negative consequences of traumatic experiences. It has been recognised as an effective treatment in post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but can also be applied successfully to a variety of problems that are connected in some way to earlier hurtful incidents.
